I am so grieving the loss of my precious MeeKa. She was killed last Tuesday by a coyote. I live in a regular neighborhood. I never would have thought I would lose her to such an attack. I am beyond consolation. She was absolutely everything to me. So sweet and smart, she was the alpha not only with my other two Pins but in the entire household. We are lost without her. She cannot be replaced and there is an emptiness that I am sure will linger here forever. Just to look at her picture and into her eyes rips at the very core of my heart. The coyotes also attacked my JJ, my diabetic rescue. He narrowly escaped and was in such shock that I could have lost him to the diabetes let alone to the gashes in his neck. The next morning i was passing out warning flyers to the neighborhood and later found out that there had been complaints about coyotes in the area and traps had even been set by an elementary school a block away but no one thought to send out warnings..if they had I would still have my beloved Meeka. I want to hold her and kiss her one last time but she is gone so please love your precious Pins for me, watch them carefully, the loss is just so great.. Linda in Whittier California.

Hello! My name is Claire. When my husband & I first got together we adopted Echo ( the Geck, as we call her) I drove 2 hours & brought her back to our first tiny apartment. She was old, missing an ear & had hardly any teeth.. She was timid & scared. She LITERALLY cried when we showed her hey toys & all the treats & things that were just for her.
She warmed up quickly & was a needy snuggly dog who slowly became more independent & sometimes even danced when she was excited!
We've now had Echo for over 2 years & shes traveled to Florida, where we lived for a year, shes been woo'd by a cat, Max, who loves her, although she doesn't return his affections, we occasionally catch them snuggling! She's made friends & even became a protective mama, following our son around the house & watching him sleep in his crib when we first brought him home.
She's been the best dog we could ever ask for & she's my pride & joy girl.
I just wanted to share her story with the web site & thank everyone who brought us Eck the Geck!
Here are some picture. They are of her & her buddy, my now 11 month old son, Even one of her perching on my very pregnant stomach, haha.

Min Pins are just so photogenic, don't you think? It's a good thing I've gone digital with my pictures as Kahns number into the 100's.... if not 1,000's in the three years I've had him!!! You have to take a few to get that perfect shot, don't you agree :o) They make great presents for the Nana's.
This is Kahn enjoying the deck on our apartment. From here he lords it over the neighbourhood, barks at the Chihuahua across the street, the squirrels and birds that dare stop in the evergreen outside our building and any dogs who happen to walk by on the street below. He prefers the nice warm deck to the air conditioned apartment. He's definitely a summer dog. He runs to one end of the deck and barks and then runs to the other end of the deck and barks every time he goes out there so there are certain times of the day/night that the deck becomes off limits as a courtesy to the neighbours!!

Hi, my name is Kathy and I adopted a Min pin about a year ago from a sheltie shelter. They took her in because she was so little they didn't want to see her go to the pound. My husband adopted a lab mix before we got married, his name is Diggs. Reba, our min pin and Diggs get along great. I love both of my dogs dearly, but I have a desire to work with more min pins. I was interested in your organization and if there was a way I could help out. I can not adopted anymore dogs at this time, though I would love to, but I would love to volunteer to help out with the dogs in anyway. Reba is such a funny dog she knows when someone or Diggs is scared. During the winter I was walking the two of them and my 85ib lab was too scared to continue because there was an inflatable snowman in someones yard. He was absolutely scared to death. Reba saw right away that he was scared and started barking and trying to attack the snowman. It was the cutest thing I had ever seen. Anyways she and Diggs have brought a lot of joy to us and I would just like to give back. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
Thank you again,

Hello!! Attached are pictures of Squirt (the Yorkie) and Buster we are not sure if Buster is a questionable mix of a min pin and something else .My husband and I are wondering if someone out there could tell us what he might be a mix of?
Buster came from a neglected home . I am told that he would stay in a cage for 10-12 hours at a time, and when they would let him out he would be tied up in the house on a four foot lease. He was nothing but bones when we took him in. Buster had so much energy when we brought him home. It has taken him two months to release all of that built up energy and for him to realize that he will never go back to his old life. His nick name is Ape man because he can't sit still for long periods of time. As you can see by the photo he is doing fine today. My little Yorkie has a new best friend for life!!! They are exactly one month apart in age. These two just love each other. They constanly have to be by each other . When they are separated they wimper and cry until they are reunited and then they just go nuts for each other.
Sincerly

A pix of our baby, Shelby
We adopted him from the Humane Society here in Portland, OR in 2002 after our 12 year old red MinPin had a stroke and passed away. Once a MinPin is in your heart, nothing can fill that hole except another MinPin. We couldn't believe that they were going to put Shelby down because no one could get close to him. His personality didn't appear to be fitting anyone coming to visit the kennels. When we walked in, they told my 2 girls to stay back, unsure of his reaction to them. He started crying, we all know that cry, and it took the girls 3.5 seconds to get in and have him on their laps. The supervisor couldn't believe what he was seeing. He had been found under a bush on a country side-road. Down to just skin & bones. So sad, but after only 2 weeks, he was up running, barking, totally happy, healthy, safe and secure!!

Sheba-Roo
Finally my husband thought maybe a dog would help, a puppy actually. So through a god sent miracle, we found our miniature pinscher, Curious George. We learned the hard way about this breed, but we love him.
Again after the death of my favorite sister, we adopted a miniature doxie named Roxanne.
After I had gotten our first computer, I had been told about this Petfinder site, and decided to take a look. I knew if I even thought about another dog my husband would not go for it, so I looked anyway.
Well I looked and quick as a wink I fell in love. There she was, Our Sheba.
She was in a shelter close to us, I read that she had a litter of puppies and she was small and had a good temperament.
Knowing her puppies would have a better chance for adoption than she would, I got together with some friends and we went to see her.
I really was not prepared for what I found, I had never seen a dog so skiddish (miniature pinschers are skiddish as a rule, some more than others). But I thought well, I've got my work cut out for me. She got out on me twice, and was so terrified of my husband I wasn't sure if I could make the situation better.
I shouldn't have worried, my husband has some sort of dog radar. He would not let me put her in her crate at night. He said she had been in that cage enough, and did not need to be in there anymore. (She sleeps with us, they all do).
Also minpins are Houdini's, they can get out very easy, if not supervised closely. It took over a year for her to calm down a bit and get to know him.
When the house is particularly active, people going in and out, with groceries etc. Sheba looks for a place to run.
This day started out no different than any of the others, someone had left the front door open, off went Sheba.
Thinking fast I realized I have to get her back in the house, so I went into the kitchen and grabbed a box of cereal. A couple of months earlier I bought a new kind of peanut butter cereal at my health food store, and I knew she liked it (minpins are so so so food motivated).
So I scattered cereal all over the front walk and opened the front door to the outside and waited for her to come in.
I caught a dog but not mine. When I looked around the pit bull from across the street was on the porch eating cereal, so my husband finally went and slowly bribed her to come home. We now never have two doors open at once.
PS Since I realized I love miniature Pinsches, I joined IMPS (Internet Miniature Pinscher Service).
