I figured all of you would enjoy this one! This is Richard C. with all the minpins. He
titled the picture, "Popcorn Morning", or, "Fun at the Farm". I think there were really 17
there, but only 13 in the picture. Not all are fosters; he has adopted 3, his granddaughter 1;
a daughter 1; a son 1; (I may have missed one!). The rest are indeed
IMPS foster dogs!

Here are some pics of my IMPS baby, Harley, (he
came to me as Parker). I brought him home in March. He was a stray in Kansas so I had no info
about his background. He is the most lovable pup, and the best big brother to my little guy, Mo.

Would you please put the two pictures I sent of Makeeta on your page? She was the neediest
little dog. She had been adopted once, then returned to us and was so-o-o thin. She was with me
for I'm not sure how long, then fostered by Sue and Chuck H. in Omaha, Nebraska. Her new mom,
Katherine, flew to Omaha form California and took her home on the plane in the cabin with her.
Now just look at her!!! <BIG GRIN>

My latest adoption. Thought you would all enjoy!

I've taken alot of guff for the amount of time and $$ I have invested in Penny, but this picture
is the best "defense" I could have come up with! Never let it be said that small dogs are not for
kids. Penny is very patient with Tassi, even to the point of bravely going down the slipper slide
with Tassi! She does let me know, though, when they are passing by me when she has had enough. She
will give me a very tiny whimper or sad look and I am always happy to rescue her! Overall the two
seem to have a great time together.

Darcy was the most amazing dog. I got her from IMPS
(Joy in Kansas) when she was 14 yrs old. Darcy immediately fit right into our family, she joined
Bob,an IMPS dog from WI and Reggie, a minpin from another rescue. She graciously let Reggie maintain
his top dog status and let Bob know in no uncertain terms that he was now #3. Reggie loved her, Bob
put up with her. The first thing she did was bite my husband on the nose, then she wiggled her way
into his heart. Six months after she joined our family, she was unable to walk and eventually to even
stand on her own. She had severe cervical disc disease. After agonizing over what to do, I realized
Darcy wasn't ready to give up.
I found an immensely talented surgeon who performed a laminectomy on 4 of her cervical vertebrae.
She came home the next day able to stand on her own. The surgeon called her a tough old broad, and
she was! For almost 2 years she was able to live a happy life with us. I vowed not to take for
granted any of the remaining time she had left with me. She went camping with us, hiking (in the
doggy sack), and on walks. I loved watching her waddle around the yard, sniffing and piddling. She
was old but she didn't care, she took what life threw at her and made the best of it. She didn't
waste time being sick, sore or crabby.
In June of this year she was diagnosed with lymphoma. We treated her with high dose steroids,
but not chemo. Hers was an aggressive cancer. On August 13th I had to have her put to sleep. I still
miss her so much, and can't believe I'll never see her again. I hope I can grow old with as much
energy and grace as she did. I urge anyone who has never adopted a senior dog, to do so. The joys do
outweigh the pain of not having them long enough. I hope my heart heals soon so I can offer another
senior dog a chance at the good life.
Thanks, Karen W.

Rebecca is a senior female puppymill refuge who knew nothing of soft beds and kind people when I
got her. She was skinny, scared to death, etc. I'd had her for several months, she became
housebroken, learned the dog door and stairs, etc. Any time she learned something new, she was so
proud of herself! I dearly love this little dog! She was adopted to a person who had another senior
IMPS dog and is the perfect example of how puppymill rescues can absolutely blossom with personality.
Following is the latest chapter in the saga of Rebecca's antics! Enjoy!!
Sue in KS
Had my first real run-in with your daughter tonight. (Ever notice she's your daughter when I'm
about to describe her antics??)
I wanted to set up my Christmas tree in front of HER window in the livingroom and move HER
cushion elsewhere in the room.
Not going to happen!
Damned if she didn't take a flying leap and knock the bottom half of my artificial tree over!
She then proceeded to drag her cushion back over near the window and PLOPPED DOWN ON IT, daring
me to move her or it!
When I moved to straighten the cushion, I knew better than to try to move it again, she bared her
teeth at me! Little shit!
Don't you move my window seat, mom!
I laughed till I cried then proceeded to rearrange the entire livingroom to accomodate the
Christrmas tree!
Rebecca is still plopped down on her cushion in her window so she can see out, so there, mom!
If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it!
Something tells me this is only installment one in the Merry Christmas with Becca story!
Meanwhile, please send snow. Becca and I want to go out and play!
I suspect as I have for quite a while that Becca is either very well preserved or rather younger
than you thought. Given her recent antics, I tend to think younger, but our vet up here thinks 15-17
might well be her real age. Can you imagine what she might have been like as a puppy!! ;o))))
Meanwhile, Merry Christmas, Vol. 1!!!! Remember to send snow!
Love and a hug-
PS new vet staff up north thinks Becca is adorable-Hah! They just don't know her well, tee-hee!

Hi Mag. Here is Chapter 2 of Merry Christmas with Rebecca!
Sue
I swear I'm going to try out for that talent show on Animal Planet with Becca!
Now she sings with the carols on the radio! When the Little Drummer Boy comes on, she trills with the "pa rum-pa-pum-pum" part, and is remarkably close to on key!
And when Deck the Halls comes on, she will sometimes trill with the "fa-la-la-la-la" part. What a hoot! When I recite the names of the reindeer at the beginning of Rudolph, they both listen with rapt attention, as if making sure I get the order right. I'm tempted to screw it up to see what they'll do! ;o))
Rebel loves to be sung to and will beg by asking in his little voice if a carol he likes comes on. Becca sits in front of the stereo, looks at me, then the stereo then me again. If I get it and turn the music on, I am fine. If not, she begins to bark insistently until I do get it.
I have come to the conclusion that these two are way smarter than I am and have me right where they want me! ;o))
Have met a special person. Becca has taken to him (yep, him, long story, very nice person...) but Rebel isn't quite so sure. Actually I think Rebel is a bit jealous because now I get more kisses from my Pookie than I have in quite a while! Go figure!
Both kids adore the Christmas lights. Becca prefers to sleep in the livingroom where she can see them, scooching her bed around so she has the best view. Pookie still sleeps with me, but loves to lay in my chair and watch the lights when I go to work.
I often leave the radio on now instead of TV. Haven't asked the neighbors if the kids sing when I am not there... They are cat people and might have me committed! ;o))
BTW-Rebecca won--I put the Christmas tree on the other side of the room. ;o)))
We got some heavy wet snow last night, but nothing stuck, sigh! So many folks have lights up here that snow would make it really pretty.
Well, I have rattled on long enough. Love to you and your traveling circus from me and mine.
Becca sends her love!

Here is a pic of my best buddy Cobi. It has been almost a year since I adopted him from
IMPS and I believe he is the BEST Minpin out there.
He is great with my kids (an 8 and 3 year old) as well as other animals he has come in contact
with. He doesn't mind his kennel, he will even get in it on his own. He is really a joy to
have around. Last summer we went to the NC coast and Cobi even loved the beach. He really is
a GREAT little dog. He also loves to wrestle so look out Triple H!!!! Thanks IMPS for my best
bud!!!

Hi Mag!
I often look throught the IMPS website when I'm out
surfing the net, and wanted to drop you a line and update you on our little min-pin we recently
adopted throught IMPS! Her name at the time of adoption was Star, but we renamed her Maizy when
we brought her home. We adopted her from her foster family, the Stovers, in Minden, NE. She has
been such a joy to have in our home. We have 2 daughters ages 2 (Miya), and 1 (Ella), and Maizy
is the perfect little guardian for them. She loves her sisters and likes to protect them. She has
her own little website at http://www.geocities.com/bonesteelchildcare/maizy.html
and I've also attached a picture of her posing with Miya. Thanks so much to everyone at IMPS for
bringing her into our lives!!
Sincerely,

Hi Mag,
I have just received some pics from Penny's new family (formerly Daisy in NE). I was hoping if you had time you could post them in the brags section!
Some info from her family:
"Some pictures of us and Penny.... we got her a cute little santa hat! She didn't exactly love it though, so we took the pictures we could get! I just wanted to send you the pictures and let you know how things are going!"
Thanks so much,

Goodness, I think I've been mistress of my home for around three years and the time has just been flying. They say time flys when you're having fun. Well I must really be happy! I have a mom who dotts over me and protects me and when I get afraid of thunder, she holds me and puts a comforter over my head and holds my ears.
I have a couch I've claimed for my own and lay around all day and bask in the afternoon sun as it shines on me.
My inner dinner clock rings at 7:30am and 4:30 pm and treat time is 9:00pm. When everyone is asleep I sneak out into the kitchen and rob my sister and brother's food out of the dishes. Mom is always finding my stashes tho. I live way out in the quiet country of Arizona. My sister is a Rotti and my brothers are a red nosed pitt bull and a heinz 57. It's very mellow here and I am so happy! We all want to thank you for being there for me and for permitting my mom and dad to adopt me!
When you came to help me, I had been in a puppy mill in Oklahoma for around 8 years. I was a mess to say the least. I had bleeding ulcers, panic attacks, impacked anal glands, and just this year we found out the reason why at night I went on the floor. I'm afraid of the dark!
I also never knew where the treat that was tossed to me was. I'm not seeing well. My doctor thinks maybe I was one of the kids that lived in the lower cages at the mill and all the urine and such always rained down into my cage into my eyes. I don't have much of a nose for things either. She thinks this is why I had panic attacks. Mom put a night light in the kitchen so I can find my way to the doggie door and a sensor outside. I'm a good kid now. Well, gotta go, meal time. Just wanted to give you an update on my welfare and to let you know, I finally have a forever home with people who love me very much and take really good care of me. Stop by anytime and I'll show you around, mom would even put on the coffee pot. Till next time, MIA 005971IMPS.

Thu, 3 May 2007 20:51:37 EDT - from Carol
This is a short story about what can happen if we have patience and put our situations in God's hands. I am keeping this story REAL with no "padding" about anything. So if sometimes I sound a little rough I will tell it like it is.
Tyler came to me as a foster about 7 years of age, black and tan, and from a puppy mill. When he arrived at my home, I thought to myself "Oh my" this is going to be a job. When our eyes met, he snarled his lip up and wanted me to know "don't touch me".
Ok. Now Tyler wasn't a very nice looking min pin. His bottom two teeth stuck out very far and his face looked like it was sort of misaligned. And when he walked, he walked like a duck. His back feet went out and he waddled. So this is what I had. Besides his unattractive physical features he acted mean. By acting mean, he was petrified. I didn't dare touch him because when I got close to him he growled and wanted to take my hand off. So the ground rules were established. He hid under the bookshelf and I did not make a move to go near him. After awhile, I knew this little guy wasn't all there.
He never came into the same room with the other dogs or with humans. His place was on the bottom of the bookshelf. So time passed on. During this time, I would see him look around the corner into the room where the others were and but if he knew I saw him looking he would run back to safety, under the bookshelf. This went on for sometime; in fact quiet a long time. As time went on, he started getting a little braver. Standing longer at the doorway watching and finally one day he came into the room and ran behind the couch and that became his spot. But it was a step.
Now my husband is crazy about the fosters we have had including Tyler. He wanted so much for Tyler to let him pet him or at least be near him. That wasn't happening. So my husband was very sad about this. But we both let time go by.
I was sleeping in the bedroom in the basement because I was ill and my son had a nice bathroom installed next to my sleeping area. That way I could be close to the dogs.
Every time Tyler would look my way or be in the same room with me, I would talk to him and I started calling him Tyler Wyler. I always said Tyler Wyler good boy. During this time I decided to start sleeping upstairs and one bedroom still had mattresses on the floor. So I decided to sleep on the mattress on the floor. Now this was about a year of time going by. But one morning I woke up and Tyler was on the mattress with the others. But still didn't want me to try to touch him. So, I decided it was time for Tyler and I to have physical contact. I know they say this is the wrong thing to do but I did this anyway. At this point Tyler and I needed to bond a little and I was going to take the next step since he had taken the first one by lying on the bed. So, I picked him up of course, against his will. And yes he snapped. But when he did I put my hand in his mouth very carefully and he had no other teeth. He had me bluffed and when his secret was out things changed. It was a slow process but he started sleeping next to me and letting me get near him. But no touching. One day he finally did not run from me and I started taking my hand to his head and saying those familiar words to him "Tyler Wyler good boy". He gave me the same stare as always but as time went on those words spoken so much to him meant he would at least not run. So this is where our bond really started to progress. Now remember, this was probably one year and half later since we first met.
Now about the same time Tyler came into my life, I was given an Italian grey because she was very old and I would provide a good home for her. Her name is Missey. Tyler just loves Missey. He follows her everywhere and wants to be next to her at all times. So it is so pleasant to watch him waddle and her trot around the yard. He was afraid of all the others and if one looked at him wrong he would hide. Scared to death. So he would cling to Missey. When one of the other fosters came around he would run away and be afraid and sometimes they bullied him. Plus he would never take any treats from my hand. My husband Robert, who is over the road, would come home and think maybe this time Tyler, would be in the same room with him. So I started putting Tyler on my lap and talked to him and that is how he started allowing Robert to get close to him. WHAT A STEP. Robert just gleamed.
Before I end this story, I must share an experience I will never forget. My kitchen door leads to my garage and I left one day. Carelessly, not making sure the kitchen door was shut good and leaving the garage door open, I came home and Tyler was gone. I totally lost it and started looking and no Tyler and it was getting dark. I called Jeanne D. and told her Tyler was gone and she knew Tyler and putting it bluntly, knew he just isn't right in the head so she was very concerned plus the fact I live on a busy 2 lane highway and traffic goes so fast. So I proceeded to make fliers and went out and went door to door leaving fliers and speaking to whoever answered their door. By this time it was pretty late. Still no Tyler. The next day went by and early evening I received a call from a lady who thought Tyler was near her house. Three houses away on the opposite side of the highway. I jumped in my car and turned off onto a little road and while I was turning I saw Tyler. I got out and started calling for Tyler and he just was waddling away towards the dangerous highway. Then I called Tyler Wyler good boy and he stopped. I walked towards him and picked him up and took him home and thanked God for this miracle. How Tyler survived is beyond me. I only knew how happy I was and I thanked the lady and told her I could not express how I felt. I was crying. I learned a valuable lesson that day about doors. One, which I will never forget.
Now I will say what is going on with Tyler now. He is such a fine baby. He has made great progress. Oh, he still has his bad habits that somehow he doesn't seem to comprehend. He still relieves himself in the water bowl outside for one. He still doesn't like for me to clean his eyes, hates his nails clipped, hates a bath, and relieves himself everywhere that he shouldn't. On a more positive note he does not let any of the others boss him around. He takes up for himself, actually if he doesn't want anyone near him he runs them off with this mean bark and snarl. He has seen the others when I drop something; they all run to see who can get it first. He now does the same but has yet to realize a dishtowel is nothing to eat but he really thinks he is doing something great and takes off with it and goes to a crate with dishtowel in mouth. Then the others try to take it but when they realize it is nothing to eat they just look at him as if to say "what are you doing" this is a dishtowel not something to eat and then they leave. Then he looks at me with a look like to say Oh I thought I had something before the others got it. This is just one of many things he will do. He is very close to Robert (my husband). And of course, Robert gives him extra treats (the others don't know that) and smiles when he pets Tyler. Tyler still gets up on the couch next to the recliner and puts his head on the arm of the couch and stares at us with his tongue hanging out. He gets in the middle of the others and knows he belongs here.
You can tell he is content and happy. There is never a day goes by when he doesn't let me know he is happy, everything in his life is new to him and is appreciative of his new life. So we all go on happy as can be. And, I often wonder, who would have ever thought this would be such a wonderful outcome.
Thank you for letting me share my story of Tyler - LOVE and PATIENCE
Carol S.

For the past 15 yrs I owned a chihuahua Named Skeeter, when he was 6 or 7 I had gotten a male Boston terrier named JoJo as a pup of ten days old. We all lived unseperable the chi for 15 & 1/2 years and the boston for almost 9 years.
In January of 2006 Skeeter was very old and Had lost the fight with Life. I was devastated to say the least, well My life changed a little with just the Boston JoJo. Well In may of 2006 I think from January until may JoJo grieved for the chihuahua who had always been around since JoJo came home. JoJo also left me in may 2006. So with in 4 months I had lost both of my very best friends.
I sarched for a dog and I found The IMPS site filled out an application for a certain dog and was contacted by Gary at the time Iowa imps regional co. He had asked me if i would Maybe I would be interested in fostering for IMPS. I said yes. few days later in June he contacted me about a Min Pin Named "Talon " who had been hit by a car in Kansas I believe and his owners had wanted him put to sleep he was only 2 and had a broken pelvis! The vet said no he had them sign Talon over to him fixed his broken pelvis and contacted IMPS. Talon needed a place to rest and heal as I have no kids and a fence would be perfect for Talon to rest.
Well on June 11th 2006 Gary brought me Talon. He is the most beautiful Min Pin I have ever saw, I get compliments all the time on Just how handsome he is.
I was so in need of him as he was me, I was so lost with out my dogs.
On June 25th 2006 I had Gary come and I adopted Talon that day! It was even my birthday!
I could not of given my self a better gift.
Well we are coming up on June 2007 and Its almost been a year.
Talon fills every day with fun, joy, hugs, kisses, silliness, and most of all companionship. He has learned alot too. I am so very thankful to have him in my life. And wanted to share my story. I am also Attaching pictures to go with our story. One is Talon By himself And the other is Talon in the front with His foster sisters we had this past winter!
I just cannot believe how his old owners could care so little for him, when I don't know what I would of done with out him he filled a very big hole I had in my heart and my life!
Thanks so much for the wonderful dog IMPS.

Makeeta - one year anniversary!

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of Makeeta rescuing me.
It has been the most wonderful year, and I cannot tell you how much joy this little dog has brought into my life.
Thank you all for doing all the wonderful work you do with this lovely little dogs!
Here is a recent photo of her that just cracks me up. Do other min pin's stretch out like this? She is actually yawning, even though it looks like a smile.
Thank you again!

Diamond the little star
Wanted to share with you the success story of Little Diamond who I rescued 2 years ago. Diamond was so named by her rescuerer who thought she was a "Diamond in the rough" and so she has been. I flew from Washington, DC to Wicthita, Kansas to pick up my little sweetie who was a shy, reclusive, ?3 year old, 6 pound with dandruff, patchy hair loss and missing teeth. Today, Diamond - no longer in the rough: has a beautiful coat, a wardrobe to die for, lives in a penthouse in Chicago (the concierge opens the door for her and greets her by name), flies to NYC - where the managers of SAK's and Bendels thank her for coming. Last weekend she visited Atlanta.
