IMPS Virginia, Maryland, etc...
Tue, 6 Jun 2000 20:02:09 EDT - from Theresa
Hi:
I just wanted to share with everyone the sweet little girl I received about
two weeks ago, thanks to IMPS. A special thanks to Petie and Linda who
really made my 30th birthday when they called and said that they had a 1yr.
old female in my area needing a new home. What a gift she is...she is a
little lovebug. She wants to be in my lap all the time and her my other
minpin Cassidy are getting along great! I've attached a picture of the two
of them and you can really see the size difference. He's a whopping 15lbs.
and she is only 7lbs. Her name is certainly appropriate, she is quite a
Jewel! Thanks again to Petie and Linda for a job well done.
Thanks,

Mag this is little Lexi who had 4 Imps homes before we found her the
perfect one with Carrie Lurz in MD
I know it has taken me forever, but here they are. I have some more being
developed, but some is better than none. Now - you must take not to the baby
who is not on the sofa and the queen baby who is on the sofa!!!! I am hoping
to get pictures of her while she is under the covers with her head on my
pillow and sleeping (I swear - if I did not know better, I'd say she is pure
human and no canine :) ).
Hope you all can see them!!!
Talk to you soon.
Carrie

Mag, this was the dog named Munsey/Buttons now named Logan.the small one in the picture..I'd
also like to mention that this lady had been on the waiting list since Dec 99 so it pays to use old
homes and they do eventually get a dog :-)
From Logan's new Mom, Debbie:
Hi just got home we were out most of the day to friends house and my son was showing off his
new dog, every thing is ok so far i will e-mail you tomarrow ,and fill you in more .He knows
nothing and dont liston to you when you call him, Mellisa said he got out and kept on running but
they got him back. Max is scarred of him - its funny, they play good together in the yard, in the
long run i think the new one will be the boss .I think that he thinks Max is his mom its so funny.
They both are asleep on my bed now. I wish i had some film to take a picture of them to send to
you they are so cute, he is so tiny conpare to Max. Thank you so much for keeping my name on file.
Thank you.

Hi Mag:
Here's a picture of our "little" mini - he is not quite 6
pounds! General Johnson is affectionately called "John John
Peebody Johnson" because he is so prolific! John is a very
beloved member of his family that includes 9 cats, an English
Setter and maybe, just maybe, a new Min Pin named Mickey. I am
sending a pic of Mickey too.
Maybe you can add our little stars. Heather and Karen

Mag,
Attached a pictures of my girl--Baba, the incomperable Czarina.
Hope this works,
PS This is the first time I've done this & it's pain in the a**. The files
were so big I had to learn how to crop them to even get them to attach in
less that an hour or so.
Pictures of Beau to follow. I wanted to experiment on Baba's, so I'd be
better when I did his.

Mag,
Here are a bunch of pictures of Beau. Pick the one(s) you think show him
off best for his "bio" & modify as needed.
You can put the rest on the pictures site, if you like.
Thanks,
For more info on Beau, please visit the IMPS Web Site.

Hi Petie and Mag:
Thought you would be proud of Melissa Jones, her cousin and mother and
nephew and me - we marched on behalf of the District of Columbia
Shelter today representing IMPS. We were the only rescue organization
there! We had our new banner, a "protest sign", Elvis MinPin who is a
webber waiting for a new home and my little Johnson marching with us.
The officials even asked me to speak on behalf of the shelter and our
good relationship with it. Linda couldn't be with us today because she
was having minor surgery. I did the best I could and even the dogs
barked at the end.
There were about 50 dogs present and about 75 people. We are all
concerned that they are selling out to an inexperienced money-minded
outfit to run the DC shelter. And they have cut the budget about in
half so we felt it necessary to be there.
Aubrey couldn't be with us either because she was transporting a dog.
Donna, Barbara and the rest of us were all fostering. Betty was doing
a cocker rescue today. You should be very proud of your Mid-Atlantic
IMPS volunteers.
Here is a picture - maybe this should go on the newsletter - Melissa
Jones and her cousin are holding our banner. Elvis is the black and
rust MinPin from the web and the tiny chocolate MinPin is my first one,
Johnson. BTW, we think we will make the Washington Post too. If we
do, we will send you a hard copy.
Lovingly for the doglets!
Heather

Mag,
I have absolutely no idea how to send these separately and wanted to ask
you if you would mind taking the write ups and putting them with the
pictures that I indicate. Sorry! I know you have enough to do, but
wanted so much for IMPSTERS to see Lena, Fendi and Angel.
Thought everyone might be interested to see Lena. Lena was the old girl
that was left at a New Jersey Shelter in a box. Donna, NJ, took her in
and I was blessed and lucky enough to have the honor of Lena spending
her last days with me. Its been a little over a year -- this grand lady
has added so much to my life. She loves me fiercely, even though, at
times she is terrified when I go to pick her up -- I don't know what
happened to her in a former life, but she is terrified if you reach over
her head to pick her up. She is also scared of other people. Lena has
an enlarged heart. Approximately 6 months ago, my vet told me every
week I have with her is a blessing. She is my miracle lady, 3 different
meds a day and I carry her everywhere in her purple blanki that her Aunt
Lynn made (don't tell Gissy). If I leave the room and she can't follow
she fusses by barking til I come pick her up. She sleeps up at my
neck every night, we get up a minimum of once a night to go outside,
and when I'm sitting down, she is right next to me. She has no teeth
and god help the other 5 dogs if they try to get near me -- she is in
their faces! Everyday when I come home from work, I listen (among all
the dogs greeting me) for that "little arf" from her ex-pen, telling
me that she has made it through another day -- this little 4 lb. lady
has a great big piece my heart -- I hope that I in some way, have made
up a little for her former life -- because she has added sooooo much to
my life. Lena is what makes this organization so worthwhile
This is the Princess Fendi, that Dee and KoKo took in and Chuck Hazen
bought east for me. Fendi is my little Princess, has full run of the
house, goes to obedience and all my natural horsemanship clinics. She
helped me get over the loss of my Rambo, as she too is special. I feel
like she has been with me forever! Plus, she is the prettiest IMPS
Rescue dog there will ever be!
Angel was an owner give up, wasn't even listed on our webesite, but went
to Kori Twiggs who adopted Bizzy -- she was the sweetiest smart girl --
Thought everyone would enjoy seeing this gorgeous girl -- and she went
to the best home ever!
This is volunteer Heather's tiny little boy Colonel Johnson -- who now
has two IMPS brothers, Mickey and Riche. As a matter of fact, we have
to be veeeeerrrry careful when Heather transports dogs as she tends to
hog them all!

Hi Mag,
This is a little 4 year old girl I pulled out of the shelter yesterday. She is currently at
the clinic undergoing spaying, treatment for a bad running lumpy thing on her right rear ankle
and of course will get all her shots and heart worm tested.
I will be turning her over to Linda after she recovers from all of this as I have a 13 year
old owner give up named Suki coming to live with us forever on the 13th of September.
Regards

ADOPTION DAY....
Well, I think the adoption of Jessebelle is a definite keeper. The
entire family was there. The mom came out of the car first, then dad but he
stood back a bit. Lou Ann held Jessebelle and scratched her ears. Then Dad
patted her head. After we talked a minute or too, the kids one at a
time came out of the car. They approached Jessebelle very slowly (I couldn't
believe their maturity) and held their closed hands out to her to sniff.
She accepted them -- and then went off to explore the parking lot on
the leash. (don't panic - there is no one in this huge parking lot - it is
west of the Burger King and is empty!)
Then they brought out Mr. Bentley who looks exactly like Jessebelle -
just an inch taller. They make a gorgeous matched couple! They both even
have the black mask extending in a point under their eyes almost exactly the
same! And to make it funnier, Melissa, guess what color leash they
bought for her? Yup, purple just like the collar you had on Jesse!
We had a great visit, went over the 2 week trial, but they are convinced
Jessebelle will do just fine. They even are naming her Autumn! She
pooped and peeped on command - the poop was very normal - not green, orange or
runny! Whoopie! (jeesh, sick person that I am excited about a dog's
poop!) They understand about her medicine and asked me twice so they wouldn't
mis-administer.
Anyway, Karen and I were more than impressed. The funny part was when
itwas time to get in our cars, Autumn jumped in the back seat with the
kids and Mr. Bentley followed - Autumn sat on the 9 year old girl Hillary and
Bentley sat on the 7 year old boy Lucas! Not one look back - she was
home!
So, wanted to let you all know how well it went. I don't think we have
to worry about Jesse! Melissa - thank you for all you did for this little
one and you too, Betty. Again, what a team!
Lovingly for the doglets, heather
Good Morning everyone!!
I just wanted to give you an update on Ms. Autumn. I took her to Dr.
Gary yesterday and she checked out well. She got her new heartworm
medicine and is still on her other. She is such a love. Her and Mr.
Bentley are getting along really well. Now they will play together and
run through the house like kids. We are still teaching her to sit it's
going slow but she knows her name now.
I wanted to show you guys a picture that was taken of us. I think you
can tell that she is happy and has found a good home for life!!
Thank you all for allowing her to come and by my new baby.
Take care and Heather I got your package yesterday and will call you on
some of the items.
Thanks

Hi Mag,
I'm sure you have heard that I lost my little lady Lena on February 9. Its taken me this
long to be able to write about her. Thought you might put this on our site -- to me, she is
the poster furkid for what we do for these dogs. I just wanted everyone to see her.
Her little house she is in -- she loved. It must have made her feel secure -- that is
where she stayed while I was at work -- I would come home and call her and she would come
tottering out, her little nub going as much as it could, especially if she thought she was
going to eat or have her bit of snausages.
She was a trooper right up to the end and would have kept trying -- on Friday night, I had
her on my lap sitting at the kitchen counter and I was feeding her bits of cooked turkey, even
though she had already had a bowlful of IIAMS and her 6:00 p.m. snack of a bit of snausage.
When she got through eating, she was doing her usual, licking her paws and fussing to herself,
she talked all the time. I noticed that she sounded congested and thought maybe she had eaten
her turkey too quickly, but Saturday morning when I fed her she was even more congested, even
though she ate every bit of her breakfast. I called my vet and he said bring her in, I knew
what was coming, as she had a very enlarged heart -- he told me that he could increase her
lasix, but it would only buy her days, she had already surpassed his first prognosis, November
of 2000 -- I told him that she had apparently struggled for most of her life until she came to
live with me what would have been 2 years ago this April, and I wasn't about to let her go out
of this world struggling.
Just please God, let her know that I did what I could do for her, I tried real hard to make
up for the life she msut have had before finding IMPS -- I carried her everywhere, she slept
with me everynight, she read the Sunday papers with me and helped me do my hair and put my
makeup on every morning, curled up in her blanki, licking her paws and fussing at anything
living thing that came close to me. She spent 2 Thanksgivings and 2 Christmases with me.
Lena showed me to stop and smell the roses -- so Lena-Beana -- may you always have a big
bowl of IAMS dog food and snausages in front of you, and may you be able to breath freely and
run about with my Rambo on those little maybe inch long legs of yours.
And even though I was only blessed to know you past your prime: in the words of Albert
Payson Terhune: today a pup; tomorrow at life's prime; then old and fragile; --dead at
fourteen (15 or 16). At best a MEAGRE LITTLE INCH OF TIME --
and in the song of Garth Brooks: Lena, "I could have missed the pain, but I would have
missed the dance"
Till we meet again, my little dear dear old friend.
Your Mom, Linda

Hi Team - here's Melissa (Richmond volunteer)'s Pepsi that she adopted from IMPS. She still
is sweeter than syrup! Melissa watches the shelters down there for us and will overnight if
necessary.
And Mag! Thanks for the wonderful Hannah story that we all shared. Here are some pics of
Pepsi - two of them would be great for the Lister success list.
Thanks, all, lovingly for the doglets, heather
Hi Heather,
I have a few pictures for you to see. Pics of Pepsi... The digital camera is actually
working decent for a change...
Anyway, just thought you would like to see the pics and pass them arond if you like to let
others of IMPS to see how Pepsi is doing.. I know the pics here are not saying much.. It's
pretty much says "Don't bother me, I'm trying to sleep"
LOL.. Well take care, enjoy..

these just make my heart go pitter patter - we love Timmy so much - look how
happy he is. I think these should be on the Brags!

Hi Heather!!!
Please find attached a few pictures of Riley (formally Timmy) and his new
Mommy and brothers. Riley has been a refreshing addition to our household
and he seems to have really taken to Chip.
They are constantly wrestling
around and playing. Riley is a tank but he is, surprisingly, very gentle
with the smaller Chip. Jack, well, he's a Basenji. He ignores them both :)

Mag,
We are quite excited that Chester "Love Puppy" has found his forever home!
It has been a long haul for him. Our Chester was a stray who was hit by a car and left to
die. It was the good folks at the SPCA (Virginia) who performed the delicate surgeries to put
him back together. Our wonderful RC, Heather, personally nursed him back to health and chose
this wonderful family for him.
When I took Chester to meet his new people, his tail never stopped wagging! He has been
blessed with TWO moms Vilma and Michelle, a big fuzzy brother......... and the biggest yard
ever! Life is good once again.
I'd like to thank all of those people who have made it possible for me to do such rewarding
work. Chester was my first foster and the experience was heart touching.
Vicki
