of assistance in obtaining and fostering any of these minpins!!!!!!!! I live in

now.

Hey guys, I spoke with Kathleen on these two pups and she said she would
absorb some of the cost of getting them from the animal shelter and getting
their shots and spayed. She said she would take $45. each adoption fee.
Kathleen was very adamant about not shipping these pups.
Angie and I will get the other 2 ,1yo on Sunday if the owner will let us have
them a no charge. I haven't been able to get hold of her yet, I think the # I
have is her work #. I will try again in the morning.

I assume the other girl that Kathleen is refering to is Angie in Ft. Myers.
<<Talked with Lonnie for quite a while. Very nice lady and she is contacting
the owner of the 2 sister minpins. She and the other girl will probably
both foster. I'll let them do whatever they're going to do. I have my
shelter girls here to worry about. Thanks for everything and thank IMPS for
me, too:-)

<<I have been waiting to hear what happened>>
I am so sorry it took me so long to get this posted. I would start writting
and then would have to leave the computer to go do this or that, go check on
the girls. Hubby has gone to bed to watch TV, I walked into the bedroom and
here he is laying in our kingsize bed with Cinnamon on one arm, Tootie on the
other arm staring a hole thru Cinnamon, Sweeter at the end of the bed staring
at her daddy with this betrayed look, Cocoa was standing on my side of the bed
just watching everyone. About that time there was a LOUD clap of thunder and
Mandy (dobie) jumped onto the bed and was trying to get under the covers to
hide. Hubby looked over at me, started to say something but didn't. A couple
of minutes later I heard him telling Tootie and Sweeter that it was ok we were
just having a slumber party and he thought they better get used to it.LOL You
would have to know this guy, he comes off as being real gruff and hard, BUT he
is such a pussycat. Now he is over there baby talking to Cinnamon, he said
when Angie comes tomorrow she could take Cocoa NOT Cinnamon.
Update Soon,

Mon, 11 Jan 1999 23:00:08 EST - from Lonnie
Cinnamon is our little chocolate/tan, 10 1/2", 6 lb, 11 mo female rescue. This
little dog is precious. She is so starved for attention. She is very much a
people dog, she hasn't met a stranger yet since I've had her. I took her to
Petsmart today to get her a collar (felt she needed one of her own, not a hand
me down) and she had to greet and meet everyone. I went ahead and pulled off
the tags on her collar and let her wear it and you should have seen the style
show she put on. It was so funny! She is shy of other dogs, the owner
indicated just the opposite. Maybe my Tootie has given her an inferiority
complex. The owner also said she was housebroken, if she is she has forgotten.
She goes outside to play and inside to use the restroom. Cinnamon does not
know anything, how to play with toys, how to play with people, does not know
any commands, not even NO and is not crate trained. She is VERY smart though.
She watches my girls and then mimics them. When we put in doggie doors it took
our girls 3 to 4 days to get the hang of them. She was using them with no
problem by Sunday night, she just followed the girls through. My Tootie is
VERY playful and has tons of toys. When I play with Tootie, Cinnamon stops
what ever she is doing and watches every move we make. I tried several times
yesterday to get her to play but she just kind of looked at me with a look
that said "what to you want me to do and I'll do it, I just don't understand".
This morning as I was getting ready for work I had Sweeter, Tootie and
Cinnamon all lined up laying on the side of the bed watching me get ready. I
felt like I should break out in song and dance. When I left I put Cinnamon in
the crate with a couple of different types of toys. My mom lives with us and
she said she didn't fuss at all today. I made my mom promise not to let her
out of the crate. Since she doesn't "come", I didn't want her to go out and my
mom not be able to get her in. Cinn digs and I don't trust her yet. My yard is
MinPin proof (at least for mine) but I feel better if I can watch her. I came
home early since I had to Mandy and Sweeter to the vet today. When I got home
I let her out of the crate and she was sooo excited to see me. I let her stay
out and took her in to mom, then I left for the vet. Mom said she howled the
entire time we were gone. Once we got back home we got back into the routine
and it was time for doggie dinners, she lined up with the rest waiting on me
HURRY. She's eating better, like a normal starving MinPin! She goes to the vet
tomorrow for her shots and to be spayed. I spoke with the doc today about her
and all of her possible problems, worms, wheezing, luxating patellas, verify
age and any other info I might need but didn't ask for (any suggestions).
Sorry so long, some day maybe I'll learn to say the same things with a third
of the words.

Emily,
Kathleen has adopted them to a lady that her vet recommended. The lady took
both of the pups, but Kathleen told me tonight that this ladies husband is
giving her a hard time. I reminded Kathleen that Eugene (on the IMPS waiting

Hi gang,
Cinnamon has found a permanent home as of last night. She was adopted by Diane
and Joe (Harleybabs) from Dunedin, Florida. They don't have any dogs, 1 cat
and 2 birds. Cinnamon didn't mind the cat, but she wasn't real sure what to
think of the bird talking to her. This couple is very nice and are thrilled
with Cinnamon. They had a dog but it crossed over the bridge from old age. I
was really depressed last night, wondering if I did right? Should I have kept
her? and on and on. Diane called me tonight to let me know that she did real
good last night and today. They went to Petsmart tonight and tried to buy the
store out. Cinnamon got another new collar, leash, crate, bed, crate pad, a
BUNCH of toys, treats, dog food and Diane got 2 books on Minpins. I feel MUCH
better after talking to Diane this evening. Cinnamon is going to thrive just
fine being in a one dog home and she is going to be Spoiled Rotten. What is a
MinPin for?? It is a very good thing that I didn't have this very special
little girl in my home long. I now know why so many of you out there have 4,
5, 6 , 7...

<<Hey Guys,
We had a wonderful trip! Cocoa was excellent. She was alittle afraid of the
noises at first, but now she is a seasoned a Truck Driver! She didn't have
any accidents and is pretty well potty trained! THANK YOU TO YOU BOTH for
that! I have not had a problem with her digging yet, I think Mister keeps her
to worn out. I think I am going to have some awesome pictures of them in the
truck, when I get them developed. I don't think that baby has ANY bad habits,
and has been Perfect! My husband is strutting around here like he is the
chief of our tribe ha ha, he is so pleased that she is "his" pet (I have news
for him) Although she sits by the door and waits for him, when he leaves, and
acts like he has been gone a million years, when he comes home.
Just thought everyone would enjoy this as much as I did.

2 minpins Orlando
Met the 2 yesterday. They are maybe 4 months old, female, black & tan,
natural ears, dewclaws. One is bigger than the other, but definitely
sisters. They are sweet pups and should do fine in a minpin home. It'd be
nice to see them go together because they are really attached to one
another. I don't think they are strays - a man brought them in who
supposedly found them on one of our busy highways. No one has claimed or
seems to be looking for them. I will be able to get them out of the shelter
on saturday morning and I have them scheduled to be spayed on monday
morning. I've named them Sugar & Spice! I would like serious inquiries
only! Adoption fee of $100 each. Must be willing to answer the questions on
my application and have a home inspection. Would prefer they stay in
Florida - will not ship them.>>
Susan
The other 2 minpins in Orlando
Can you please let the list know about the following: Two, year old
sisters, black/tan, natural ears need home immediately. Family is being
evicted. They are small (according to owner), smallest is around 4#. Cocoa
and Cinnamon are their names. They've been living with kids 2 to 13 and
love them. They have not had vaccines, heartworm prevention or been spayed.
I would suggest these all be done immediately - especially a heartworm
test. It also sounds like the smallest has luxating patellas. The option of
contacting original breeder to take them back is null because the lady got
them from a real idiot - found a male stray and bred her bitch to him -
result was these pups! I have not seen them, I've only talked to the lady.
She seems genuinely upset by having to get rid of the dogs, but she has not
cared for them properly from the get go, so it is best they now need to go
to an appropriate minpin home. She's asking $150 for each but will
negotiate to get them in a good home. I told her if I have to take them (to
keep them from going to a shelter) I will not give her any money since I
will have to have all the vet work done. She agreed with that. I am getting
2 pups this weekend out of a shelter so I really can't take another 2 on.
Pookie Bros. Pet Sitting>>
2 female pups, 4mos old are in animal control. They were supposedly strays-
but my contact said she didn't believe that. She thinks that the guy that "found"
them was the owner.
Next, there is a lady that is getting evicted from her house and she must
give up her 2 female minpins. These 2 have NOT had the proper vet care and one
sounds like she's got luxating patellas. PEOPLE ARE SUCH CREEPS !!!
Petie or Somebody please email me for my home and work #'s, and help me out
on these. I've also been trying all morning to get through to Hillsboro Animal
control. This is a joke, my last call I was stuck on hold for 30 minutes. I
will forward a copy of the article on the Puppy Mill closure, it is
disgusting.
Please check the emails that I've posted from Kathleen Prince. She's going to
get the two that are in the shelter (Sugar & Spice). We do need help for the
other two that are being "evicted". The owner wants money, but Kathleen
advised that she wouldn't pay for them and the owner seemed to agree.
Kathleen can't take these two also, so she's looking for help from the list.

I have the Girls
Click here for previous posts on the 4 Minpins in Orlando.
I am not sure where to start. First of all the girls are wonderful, extremely
loving, don't mind at all, I don't think anyone has tried to teach them
anything because they seem very smart. Also they are CHOCOLATE not b/r, how
does an owner not know the difference from black and brown. Go figure !!
Cocoa is chocolate/tan, aprox 14"-15" tall, oh maybe 12# -14# , she tries very
hard to please and gives lots of kisses. Once we got home she became very
playful and all of my girls are just giving her the cold shoulder (me too-I've
been with another dog). We stopped a couple of times and when one of us got
out of the car they both whined till whoever came back, it didn't matter if it
was me or hubby.
Cinnamon is chocolate/tan, aprox 10"-11", aprox 7#, VERY vocal, extremely
loving and very free with the kisses. She was pretty hyper on the drive home,
but I think she got intimidated once she got home and met the girls. She has
been in hubby's lap since about 30 minutes after we got here (could bode bad
for the adoptive home) and just keeps kissing him and looking up at him every
time he moves with this adoring look!
The trip going was great, good weather, no cops and very little traffic even
though Kissimmee (Disney World) and Orlando. We had no trouble finding the
house, but I am so glad that hubby was with me. Since the lady was evicted
from the house we had to meet her in the alley behind her old house. There is
a garage apt. back there that her husband is renting and the dogs were
there..don't ask me??? So here we sat in this alley for aprox 25 min with all
of these guys walking past the alley on the street, swinging chains and eyeing
us. After we had been there about 25 min these guys turned down the alley
heading our way. About that time the owner pulled into the alley from the
other end of the alley. I don't know why but I sure was glad to see them.
Needless to say, I had to admit to hubby he was right. Gosh, I had it when I
have to do that, he gets such a big head. The owners husband got out of the
van and went into the apt., I got out of the car and went up to the van. The
owner was really upset and crying uncontrollably, I kept assuring her that we
would find them wonderful, loving homes and not to worry. Then the husband
comes out of the apt with these 2 little girls holding them way out from his
body like he was handing them to us. It was awful. I can't tell you how bad
they smelled. Their coats were crusted with dog poop and when I took the
little one from him, she had poop all over her paws so then I had it all over
my shirt. Thankfully we had brought collars and leashes with us so we put
those on them and put them on the ground. I went back to the owners van (she
never got out of it) to get the rescue/release forms I had given her to fill
out. I asked her if they had a bed, toys or anything familar and she said no.
She started crying again and I didn't have near the sympathy that time as I
did the first time. I finally took the forms out of her hands and told her we
had to leave. Oh yeah, while we had them on a leash the owners little 2yo boy
got out of the van and both of the dogs ran over to him, their whole little
bodies wagging, jumped on his chest and started giving him kisses. By the time
we got them in the car, the dog poop on their paws were gone so that was
better. We got back to the highway about two exits up and stopped at the rest
stop so I could clean up. I had a brush in my purse so I brushed the girls the
best I could and just trashed the brush. Oh boy, we're ready for the 3 hour
drive home. These girls have never seen much less been in a crate, so that was
out for the time being. I let them sit in my lap with hubby's Window down
because of the smell. I'm trying to check them out while holding them. I don't
ever think I've seen nails on a dog as long as theirs were, they actually
curled under there paws. While we were sitting there I got to counting fleas.
They had fleas so bad it looked like there skin was crawling, well watching
all of the fleas I started itching. When I couldn't stand it any longer I
tried to put them in the crate. What a joke. I am holding the little one with
one hand, trying to put Cocoa in the crate. She's taking her paws and bracing
them against the sides and she wasn't going anywhere. I finally got her in and
then started trying the same thing with Cinnamon, basically same behavior. The
whole time that I'm fighting with them, hubby is laughing till tears are
running and the madder I'm getting at ALL of them. By the time we reached
Clearwater we are both gagging and the fleas are jumping on both of us in the
front seat. We decided to stop at Petsmart and have them bathed and dipped,
BEFORE we took them home.
I went into Petsmart and asked the groomer if she could do a bath and dip on
two Minpins. She told me no that she was booked and couldn't fit them in.
About that time hubby came walking in with them and the groomer took one look
and whiff of them and told me to leave them and she would work them in. While
we were filling out the paperwork she asked about shots and I told her they
have never had any and that were rescued today. She stopped writing and looked
up at me with dog poop all over the front of my shirt, looked down at the dogs
and she said "ok, these dogs just had their shots but since they're not yours
you aren't sure when, isn't that correct", of course, I said yes. We left
them, came home jumped in the shower, changed clothes, and sprayed my car with
Adams flea spray. We went back to get them and Cinnamon (little one) had
scratched the groomer really bad. The groomer said she didn't think either one
of them had ever had a bath. They didn't have a clue what was happening, but
never once tried to bite her even though they were terrified. She said after
it was all said and done that she sat down with each one of them and loved on
them and that licked her back. Now we are home and everything is great. Sorry
so long, but.....
I love her and would love to keep her... if I can convince my husband. I was
surprised and ;} hint hint:} disappointed that I have a lady already so
interested in her. She is a truck driver that wants a playmate for her 22 lb
minpin. I found it hard not to be discouraging to her, but I have to do what
is best for Katie. Anyway, she is leaving town for a few weeks tomorrow and
wants to know if I can "board her" here until she gets back. What is the
status on that. I don't really know what I do now with the whole adoption
thing actually.
Anyway, Katie is adjusting well and has started to play with Parker (my
minpin). He loves her! And she is already coming to her name Katie and
learning some basic obedience commands. She is a real sweetheart and wants to
be loved and on my lap quite a bit. Parker is taking it very much like a
gentleman, as my lap is ALWAYS his spot. He is a real mommas dog. But, he
has been doing terrific sharing his mommy, daddy and his toys and food bowls.
I am very proud of him.
I understand that someone.... is not getting rid of Cinnamon now. I had a
feeling when I was there this afternoon that that might be the case.
All of these guys are just so cute! I love um!
I will ask the vet on Tuesday about her nipples hanging. It looks to me as if
she has had a litter of puppies recently.
Also, if things don't work out with the truck driver lady, maybe we don't have
to try real hard to find her another home! hint hint. If another home
doesn't turn up, I'm afraid that I will just be forced to keep her, right.!
Anyway, thanks for the support!

Katie's New home

When I got home, I was starting to write a post to the list with an update and
I had recieved a letter from julie. She was so excited in her letter about
getting Katie that I just had to call her immediately and tell her that she
can have Katie any time that she could make the 5 hour drive to Ft. Myers.
She was in the car in about 5 minutes and we are expecting her any minute
now!!!
She was so excited! I am so happy that I have been a part of Katie's road to
a wonderful new home for her. I don't think that we could have found a
perfect match with her desire for attention and love and this ladies
willingness to give it!
Julie has AOL and so I will be sure to tell her to continue to keep in touch
and to send us pictures of little Katie and her progress.
Thank you all for your support here on the list!
I hope that I can someday again help another little minpin in need!

She is going to a very happy home and she is going to have the time of her
life now!
This has been a great day.
I told Julie that I would cover her vet bills as a gift to her and Katie and
the new life that they are having together.
She gave me $50.00 in cash for the adoption fee. Who do I send that to?

How are you coping? I bet you really miss this baby! I am in LOVE! I have
been home about 1 hour mabey 1 1/2 hour. When we got home my husband met us
at the mailbox and we drove to the end of the street, so Cocoa could get to
know him just a little before she had to endure Mister...Ha. (By the was she
slept in Misters bed the whole way home). When she first met Mister she was
fine on the floor with him, (she chased him and he ran)....it was so funny.
Any time that she is in my lap and Mister comes up to her she growls a lot at
him, but on the floor with him, they play...kinda weird. She is using the
doggie doors really well, now we will just have to make sure she knows why to
use them...ha.
Oh well, I will keep in touch!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How are you and the Boys doing today? I just get sick at the thought that
there are people who can mistreat a poor animal! Thank goodness that Copper
is safe and enjoying a little peace. I have been blabbing to anyone that will
listen about all the Min Pins needing rescue, and lot's of drivers already
have ask for phone numbers. We picked up a load in Jacksonville last Thursday
and the Shipping People fell in Love with Cocoa (they couldn't get close
enough to Mister to like him ha ha) ! Some guy even ask how much I would take
for her, I was so insulted, I got in the truck with my baby and never got back
out! I did not have any numbers with me, so I gave everyone my email address
and ask that they email me, and I would get them a phone number. So far no
one has, but I am hopeful. I will definitely take the numbers with me, when
we leave next time.
This Morning Michael left to go do a local run, and Cocoa crept closer to
me, and put her head on my pillow. Next thing I know she is snoring and then
running in her sleep, it was so funny, I started to giggle and woke her up.
Right now, I am in the spare bedroom (the play room) and I can hear her
snoring all the way in here from the living room.
Cocoa has received 3 welcome cards from our friends with pet's that come
over to spend the night or weekend. She also has received 2 pet tags with her
name and address and new phone number. Now she has 3 cause we got her one
also. All you hear around here is jingle jingle jingle, from all the tags!
Yesterday Cocoa was finally able to catch Mister and steal his toy, He
lets her have what ever she wants, and she loves liver treats! Mister dug up
a bone in the yard and gave it to her, I thought that was so sweet.
Oh well, I could go on, and on, and on!
Let me know, If I can help you in any way!
Love,
Julie, Michael, Mister and Cocoa>>
