<<Hi Rie - I sent them an email asking for more info. We have Jeanese in WA, but I don't know if she 1) has time, 2) can take in a rescue and 3) is close enough to help out if she can. I'll post more once I find out more! Jeanese - What do you think if it's close to you?

I would need to know about it, do we know anything else?

I talked to Ceilidh, the lady that had been fostering "Rocko." Right now he is back with his owner until the first of the year because the foster home also boards dogs and is full until then. He is black and rust, 2 year old, neutered male. Ceilidh did not know his height and weight, but said she thought "he looked about right."

He is NOT good with small children, but would be OK with children that are 7 years old or older who know not to pull ears, etc. He has nipped twice, both times when awaken from a sleep by a time the child jumped on him and the other time she startled him by pulling the cover off of him.

Ceilidh, who breeds and rescues dobes said that he does very well with routine. He need a couple days to adjust to a new home. She feels he would do very well in obedience and it would help him become a better pet as well. He does well with other dogs.

This dog is located in Bellingham, WA, which is north of Seattle. I would be willing to foster after the first of the year and so would Ceilidh. Neither one of us could keep him for an extended period of time though. I did see a person on the list from Idaho, how does this home check out? I cc'd this to Jayme, maybe she knows of a home in Eastern Washington.

Thanks in advance for your help with "Rocko" he sure deserves this chance we are giving him.

I may have a potential home for "Rocko." This home would be with Brenda on the IMPS list from Idaho. She contacted me when she saw Rocko on there. She has no human children, but 3 canine ones -- 2 MinPins and a pom, all males. I talked with the owner who feels really great about this new home and I also spoke to Brenda who seems equally excited. Hopefully, it's just a matter of plane reservations, although I offered to drive half way. Let's all cross whatever we have to and pray to whoever we have to make sure this all happens.

At 3:30 today I go to Seattle to pick Rocko up. He is flying to Brenda's home in Idaho. They are thrilled to have him. This rescue almost didn't happen because the owner's brother wanted him at the last minute. Luckily that didn't happen because he probably would have ended up as a rescue later.

Anyway, I believe Brenda has joined the list, please everyone make her feel welcome. She will also need our support as Rocko integrates into her household.

I'll post more about Rocko after I have him!!!!

Rocko is at my home now. He was VERY afraid when he first got here. He would take the food from the bowl and take it to his crate and eat it inside. His crate makes him feel secure. He was in it WAY too much in his last home. I did manage to get him out of it (I had to dump him out) and hold and pet him. He allowed me to pet his stomach. He is a fear nipper and will definitely warn you when he is afraid of his surroundings. When I got up to put my other dogs in the bedroom my husband held the leash and he wanted to follow me, so he is already getting attached. That's a good shows that he CAN trust. My husbands two male friends are here and that didn't faze him, they are mellow and won't harass him. He met the cat without incident as well. I think we found the perfect home with Brenda, she is home all day and has an established routine.

<<Hi Petie,

First off, I want to thank you for putting me on the MinPin list. I enjoy reading all the e-mails.

Also, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate Jeanese for rescuing Rocko (Carson) and allowing us to adopt him. He is a great addition to our family.

It's wonderful knowing that there are so many people who love MinPin's and want to rescue them so they can be adopted into a loving family.

Thanks again,
Brenda, Clarence (minpin), Cecil (minpin), Charlie (pom), Carson (Rocko) and Randy (husband)

I'll be glad to but won't your Pins let YOU post? :-) THANK YOU for adopting Rocko if we didn't have great people like you to give them homes we'd definately be up the creek.

Update on Rocko (Carson).....

I received this update on Rocko:

<<Howdy Jeanese,

Carson is doing great! By the 2nd day, he was coming to his new name. He also knew the daily routine by the 3rd day....Horses are fed first then dogs then us humans. I finally have him eating better. The previous owners must have fed him a lot of table scraps. In my house they eat their "dog" food first then maybe table scraps as a treat. My guys love Jerky Treats and the first 4 times I tried to give Carson a bite he'd take it in his mouth then spit it out and try to roll in it. Now, he gobbles it down as fast as his brothers. He loves to run, he's to the barn and back to the house 20 times before I step off the lawn heading toward the barn. I also let the guys bark if someone rings the doorbell, knocks on the door or the garage door goes up. After I see who it is I tell them Okay, that's enough. Carson would hide behind me and never say a word. Last Saturday, Randy had to go fix a client's computer and when he came home the garage door went up and the guys started to bark. Carson hid behind me, after Randy came inside and started to take off his coat, Carson let out 2 very loud barks. Talk about scare me! Now, he's barking as enthusiastically as his brothers. I left his crate on the floor with the door open for 3 days so he felt stressed he could go inside of it. The only time he did, I was talking to Randy about the crate, how nice it was. I happened to look at Carson and said "That crate is really nice." Carson went right inside of it, I think he thought I had told him to go there. After we chuckled for a few seconds about him doing that, I called him to come out and he raced out leaping into my arms. So, the crate is put up.

I did hear from the previous owners Thursday. They were glad to hear Carson was doing so well and how happy we are to have him. Which is very, very true!

This weekend, I'm baby-sitting my Dad's MinPins while Dad and Randy went to Twin Falls. Dad to visit my sister and Randy to visit his Mother in Burley. It's been fun---The guys more or less have the run of the place! I laugh every time I hear 24 thundering feet and collars jiggling when they race through the house.

I just realized I typed probably 3 pages to you about Carson. Can you tell I'm still excited to have him in our family?

Did you tell me you were on another minpin list? If so, what's the e-mail address?

Thanks again, Jeanese

P.S. You can release this note to the MinPin List if you want!>>
