Tazzie

Petie is adding this new rescue to the list for me, but I thought I'd send
the vitals out to the list.
Name: Tazzie
Tazzie is currently with a representative of Carolina Purebred Rescue in
Myrtle Beach, SC. CPR is turning Tazzie over to IMPS because they feel we
have better resources for minpins. I will be picking her up on September 9.
Tazzie is an owner turn-in. Her former owner is in her 70s and is worried
about what will happen to her dogs if something were to happen to her.
Tazzie has lived her life on a glassed-in porch (not inside until the CPR
member got her) with a chihuahua. Her former owner played with her
approximately an hour per day.
Tazzie will receive full vet treatment once I get her. She is already
scheduled for a vet visit on Sept. 18 (Buddy and Glory already had an
appointment for this day). She will get all of her shots, heartworm then.
I'm hoping to get her into our Low Cost Spay/Neuter clinic in early October.
They are booked for September and won't be taking Oct. appointments until
Wednesday. I'll call and try to get her in the first week of October. This
clinic is less than a mile from where I work, so it's also pretty
convenient.
Tazzie won't be available until after her spay. I hope she doesn't have
heartworm or any other health problems. The CPR representative didn't think
she'd had regular vet visits, so that's always a possibility. :-(
This will be my first foster/rescue. I mean, both of my dogs are from
rescue, but this will be my first as an IMPS volunteer. Keep your fingers
crossed. She seems like a sweet girl!

Well, we picked up Tazzie last night. What a sweetie!! She is so tiny--less
than 9" tall and around 6 pounds. But she is a sweetheart. Buddy is
suffering from immense jealousy. He will NOT leave my side! Glory just wants
to play and Tazzie isn't quite ready for that. She's still getting used to
everything.
This is a sweet girl. I don't think we'll have any problem placing her. The
only negative is her age-6 years, but she's so sweet that I don't see that
being a problem. She's so tiny, you just want to snuggle with her and
protect her. What a sweetie!!
She will get the full vet visit next Saturday and will be spayed the
following week. Her previous owner couldn't remember if she'd been spayed or
not. However, she seems a little swollen, so probably not. We'll just get
that taken care of.
Mike has totally taken to her. He wouldn't even let me hold her on the way
home. Both Glory and Buddy are my dogs, so he's really trying with Tazzie.
It might be hard for him to give her up if she attaches herself to him
(fingers crossed). :-)
I will send in the questionnaire so we can get her on the website and hope
to take some pics this weekend.

Well, I am happy to report that Tazzie has found her forever home. She will
be going to live in Wilmington, NC next weekend (after her vet visit and
spay). She will share her home with another minpin and a lab mix. Jennifer,
Tazzie's new Mama, received a great recommendation from her vet and personal
reference, so I have no qualms about placing Tazzie with her. And she is so
excited to bring this little sweetheart home!
I am so glad that my first attempt at rescue/foster has gone so well. Tazzie
is such a sweet girl and I hate to see her go, but I know this is best for
her. And I think that Buddy will be glad that he doesn't have to share him
Mama anymore! But really, he and Glory have been real troupers and did so
well with Tazzie. Glory just follows her everywhere!
I will get my film developed and then send pics to Mag for the website. She
really is a sweetheart--rarely barks (I didn't think it possible!). She did
great with my cousin's two- and four-year old children and is just generally
a really sweet, calm girl!
Well, I'm glad to have good news to report after all of the bad news about
the hurricane! Mark another one up for IMPS!!!! Thanks, Lister!
